Wild!

I've been on a flower kick with my painting lately; specifically wildflowers.   I have completed a series of wildflower paintings in a variety of sizes from 12x12's to a 36x60 monster currently hanging in my home gallery.  Several of them are on my website.

I find wildflowers have a more organic beauty that holds my attention more than anything I see contained in a vase of water.   What is interesting to me is walking past a patch of "colorful growth" in  a field, and not knowing if they are weeds or flowers.  I am amazed at the individual who can call out the scientific name of flowers, and those who can discern a weed from a "real" flower.  I admit there are times I find  dandelions in bloom quite beautiful...as long as they are not in my front yard!

It is hard to disdain a weed when its color and shape add tremendous value to the landscape in which it lives.  Maybe there is a life lesson in that scenario.  Perhaps viewing the people around us each day and looking past titles, reputations or appearances would bring each of us a more attractive "life landscape"..

Thank you for your interest in my art!

Hi Peter. I wanted to comment on today's entry for the 30-day challenge. It's beautiful. It reminds me of a bird of paradise.
